Mary Beth Meehan's first goal was to use photography to humanize perceptions of her hometown of Brockton, Massachusetts, a post-industrial American city degraded -- and publicly characterized -- by economic decline, social and cultural dislocation, and rising poverty and crime.
Her second goal was to bring those photographs back to the community, in the form of a public installation in Brockton's downtown core.
